Women’s Volleyball Drops Home Contest to College of Mt. St. Vincent

New York, N.Y.— The John Jay women's volleyball team fell at home on Thursday evening as the Bloodhounds lost to the College of Mount Saint Vincent (CMSV) 3-0 (17-25, 6-25, 14-25) at the Doghouse.

The loss leaves John Jay at 0-14 on the season. CMSV improves to 6-11.

The Bloodhounds went toe-to-toe with the visiting Dolphins in the opening set. John Jay took an early lead and led by as much as four early on when the Bloodhounds led 6-3.

But the CMSV hung around and took its first lead in the midst of a 9-0 rally to turn a 12-9 deficit into an 18-12 lead en route to the first set victory.

In the second set, the Dolphins jumped over the Bloodhounds from the opening serve. CMSV scored never trailed in the contest as they scored the first three points of the set to go up 3-0. After John Jay's first point, the Dolphins rallied off seven more to take a 10-1 lead and cruise to victory.

In the third set, CMSV broke a 1-1 with three straight points, and led the rest of the way en route to winning the match.

The Bloodhounds were led by Martina Hot with eight kills, while Kathleen Estevez had five. Renauta Sailsman had a pair of kills to go along with two service aces and 12 digs. Katherine Bonilla had 11 assists and 10 digs in the match.

CMSV was led by Jessica Williams with seven kills, while Maureen Metzner had five kills, five service aces and 13 digs. Renee Reynes had 12 digs, while Erin MacBride had 19 assists for the Dolphins.

John Jay is back in action on Saturday for a duel match at Montclair State University at 11 a.m.
