Men's Basketball Defeats CCNY

Box Score New York, N.Y.— A gigantic run midway though the first half by the Bloodhounds, turned a close game into a route as the John Jay men's basketball team earned a 93-78 win over the City College of New York (CCNY) on Wednesday evening.
 
Up by just a point at 15-14 with 12:15 to go, John Jay went on a 16-0 run to break the game open as the Bloodhounds led 31-14 with 8:00 left.
 
John Jay was not done yet and extended the lead and took a twenty plus point lead and led 47-26 at halftime.
 
The Bloodhounds maintained a large lead for most of the second half before the host Beavers cut into the deficit and make a game of it.
 
CCNY chipped away and chipped away and cut the Bloodhound lead to six as John Jay led 80-74 with 2:09 to go.
 
But the Bloodhounds managed to hold off the hard charging Beavers by closing out the game on a 13-4 run to win by 17. John Jay went 8-for-11 from the free throw line in the final moments to preserve the win.
 
John Jay was led by Jerome Alexander with 28 points, six rebounds and five assists, while Jamar Harry added 15 points. Swindon Charles grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds.
 
CCNY was led by Hector Hernandez with 26 points and eight rebounds.
