Men’s Volleyball Outduels Medgar Evers

New York, N.Y.— The John Jay men's volleyball team went the distance and picked up their third win of the season as the Bloodhounds defeated Medgar Evers College 3-2 (25-15, 21-25, 20-25, 25-17, 15-5) at the Doghouse on Tuesday evening.
 
With the win, John Jay improves to 3-10 (2-8 CUNYAC) this season while Medgar Evers falls to 0-22 (0-12 CUNYAC). All three wins by the Bloodhounds so far have come against Medgar Evers (John Jay beat Medgar Evers 3-1 on February 22 and 3-0 on March 3).
 
In Tuesday's win, the Bloodhounds were led by Korede Griffith with a match-high 11 kills to go along with five service aces and four digs. Meanwhile Frankie Galang had 10 kills, six service aces and seven digs. Back row specialist Francisco Miranda bumped a match-high 17 digs, while Dale Hoa had 11 digs along with 29 assists and five kills (no errors) on 11 attacks (.455 attack percentage).
 
Medgar Evers was led by Jamal Baptiste and Olando Cummings with eight kills each. Baptiste added nine digs for the Cougars. Jason Brown led the team in digs with 14 and had four block assists and five kills. Fellow teammate Erick Pericles had six block assists and one solo block.
