The women's swim team lost to Brooklyn College, 113-82, on Thursday evening in Brooklyn. The Bloodhounds fall to 3-2 overall (1-2 in CUNYAC) while the Bulldogs improve to 2-2 on the season (1-0 in CUNYAC).
"The team had a difficult loss to Brooklyn," head coach
Jessica Whitley said. "Starting off with the first event of the evening, we got touched out at the finish, however John Jay posted their best time all season, 2:10.96."
John Jay got a first-place finish from freshman Alyssa Devito. She swam the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 13:32.96. Sophomore
Kaylie Bruce also took home first in the 100 yard backstroke in 1:17.38.
The Bloodhounds won the last event, 200 yard freestyle relay, as sophomores
Diana Rodriguez,
Jenell Stott-Hodge, and seniors
Laura Galeano and
Vanessa Toro-Plaza, led the way with a time of 2:05.75.
"We had many great races and personal best times throughout the night, including Alyssa Devito and
Nathalie Cuellar in the 1000 yard freestyle," Whitley said. "
Jenell Stott-Hodge went a personal best in the 50 free and
Kaylie Bruce,
Laura Galeano and
Danielle Conigliaro went their career best in the 100 backstroke. I am very pleased with their times at this point in the season."
The Bloodhounds return to action on Tuesday, December 3 against Baruch College at 6 p.m. at Arc Arena.
