The men's basketball team fell short to Lycoming College, 104-98, on Saturday afternoon in the Dutch Burch championship game. The Bloodhounds fall to 1-1 on the season.Â
Junior
Korede Griffith once again led the way for the Bloodhounds. He went 10-20 (50%) from the field and recorded a game-high 29 points, four rebounds, seven steals, one assist and one block. For his efforts from the two games, Griffith was awarded to the All-Tournament team.
Junior
Kris Owens registered a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Junior Darell Robinson added 18 points and a team-high 6 assists and junior
Jordan Wells contributed with nine points, two assists and two steals.Â
Lycoming was led by Kevin Anthony, who scored a team-high 26 points. Justin Miller and William Wingate each had 16 points. Â
John Jay shot 39.8% (35-88) from the field and 76.9% (20-26) from the free-throw line. Lycoming went 34-56 (60.7%) from the field and 33-51 (64.7) from the free-throw line.Â
"I was happy with how the team fought all game long," head coach
Otis Fenn said. "Despite the final score, our guys played a great all-around game."
John Jay will now travel to New Jersey City University for a game on Tuesday, November 19 at 8 p.m.
