The men's basketball team fell to Lehman College, 87-55, on Tuesday evening at the Doghouse. With the loss, the Bloodhounds fall to 2-4 (1-2 in CUNYAC) on the season and the Lightning improve to 5-3 (2-1 in CUNYAC).Â
Freshman
Benjamin Smith opened up the scoring for both teams hitting a jumper. The Lightning then went on a 10-2 run to take a 13-4 lead. Juniors
Korede Griffith and Darell Robinson hit back-to-back shots to cut the deficit to four.Â
Lehman responded going on a 7-0 run to increase their lead to 20-9. Junior
Kris Owens then connected on a jumper to cut the lead to nine. Later on in the first half, the Lightning led by double digits until senior
Oshea Alexander made a layup. At halftime, Lehman led 50-32.Â
Senior
Darryl Dennis recorded the first three points of the second half for the Bloodhounds. The Lightning extended their lead to 20 and would not look back. Smith and freshman
Allan Mendlowitz would go on to record their first two points of their collegiate career later in the half.Â
Owens had a team-high 15 points and seven rebounds. Griffith and freshman
Geno Ware each recorded eight points and four steals.Â
Anthony Saldarriaga added nine points off the bench.Â
Brandon Stolz recorded a double-double for the Lightning with a game-high 22 points and 12 rebounds. A total of four Lehman players were in double digits.Â
The Bloodhounds will head to Hunter College on Friday, December 13 for a conference game at 7 p.m.Â
