The men's basketball team fell to Baruch College, 70-54, on Friday evening at the ARC Arena. With the loss, the Bloodhounds fall to 2-3 (1-1 in CUNYAC) on the season and the Bearcats improve to 5-2 (2-0) overall.Â
Baruch led off the game recording nine of the first 11 points of the contest. Senior
Oshea Alexander cut the lead to six after hitting a free-throw. The Bearcats increased the lead back up to 10 with less than 12 minutes remaining in the first half. Senior
Darryl Dennis then hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit back down to seven.
With Baruch leading 21-13, the Bearcats went on a 7-0 run to increase the lead to 15. Dennis responded by registering the next five points of the game. However, the Bearcats took a 37-25 lead heading into halftime.Â
Junior Darell Robinson recorded John Jay's first two points of the second half to cut the lead to 13. With 13:07 left to go in the game, junior
Korede Griffith made a layup to put the Bloodhounds down seven. Unfortunately, the Bloodhounds were unable to come back as each team exchanged baskets to close out the game. Baruch would go on to win the conference match, 70-54.Â
Owens recorded a double-double with a game-high 18 points to go along with 12 rebounds, one assist and one steal. Dennis was second on the team in scoring with 12 points, 3 rebounds, two assists and two steals. Griffith swiped seven steals and sophomore
Kendal Jordan picked up 10 boards.Â
Three Bearcats finished in double digits. Raymond De La Cruz had a team-high 17 points and five rebounds. Edward Roscigno and Brian McMahon recorded 10 points each.Â
The Bloodhounds will head home on Tuesday, December 10 for a conference game against Lehman College at 7:00 p.m.
