New York, N.Y – The road to the conference championship will go through the Doghouse for the Bloodhounds, as John Jay's women's and men's teams have earned home court matchups for their respective quarterfinal round matchups of the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) / Con Edison basketball championships.
The John Jay women's team (13-12, 10-6 CUNYAC) earned the No.4 seed will host No.5 Hunter College (11-14, 9-7 CUNYAC) at 4p.m. on Saturday. If the Bloodhounds win, they advance into the semifinal round and will play on Wednesday against the winner of No. 1 Baruch College and No. 8 York College at 6 p.m. at Nat Holman Gymnasium on the campus of the City College of New York. With a win there, John Jay will play for the championship on Feb. 23 at 3 p.m.
The men earned the No. 3 seed and will host No. 6 York College at 4p.m. Sunday. If John Jay wins, the Bloodhounds advance to the semifinals where they will play the winner between No. 2 Baruch College and No. 7 the City College of New York. That game will be played at Nat Holman Gymnasium as well on Thursday at 8 p.m. If the Bloodhounds win that game, they advance to the championship Feb. 23 at 5 p.m.
Both teams finished over .500 this past regular season as both had 13-12 overall records. The women finished with its highest winning percentage since the 2006-07 season when the Bloodhounds went 17-8 in the regular season (18-10 overall) and earned a berth into the ECAC Metro Regional championship. The men, also 13-12, finished over .500 in the regular season for the first time since the 2003-04 season when the Bloodhounds went 20-5 (21-7 overall) and earned a berth into the ECAC Metro Regional championship
