BROOKLYN, N.Y.— The John Jay men's volleyball team picked up its fifth and sixth wins of the season as the Bloodhounds won a pair of conference games at Medgar Evers College on Thursday night. John Jay won 3-0 both times (25-17, 25-12, 25-15 in the first match and 25-21, 25-21, 25-11 in the second match).
With the wins, John Jay is now 6-8 overall (3-7 CUNYAC), while Medgar Evers College falls to 0-14 ((0-10 CUNYAC).
In the first match, John Jay recorded a .320 attack percentage (28 kills, 12 errors, 50 total attacks), including a .769 percentage in the second set where the Bloodhounds had 10 kills on 13 total attacks with no errors.
In that match,
Jack Palleschi had a match-high seven kills, along with three digs and two blocks.
Yevgeniy Remennik had six kills, three service aces and two blocking assists, while
Korede Griffith had six kills and four digs.
Oshea Alexander recorded a .625 attack percentage which included five kills (no errors) on eight attempts. He also chimed in with three total blocks (one solo block and two block assists).
Nicholas Anderson had 20 assists, three service aces and seven digs.
Medgar Evers College was led by Shemroy Primo with six kills in the first match.
In the second match, Remennik had 12 kills (three errors) on 23 attempts for a .391 attack percentage to go along with four service aces. Palleschi added 10 kills (two errors) on 15 attempts for a .533 attack percentage. Meanwhile Alexander had 10 kills (three errors) on 17 attempts for a .412 attack percentage. He also added two solo blocks in the win.
The Bloodhounds had a .293 attack percentage in the match (38 kills, 14 errors, 82 total attacks), including a .500 percentage in the third set (13 kills, no errors, 26 attacks).
Primo had nine kills for the host Cougars in the second match.
John Jay returns to action on Tuesday March 26 for a home match against St. Joseph's-Brooklyn at 6 p.m.
