After an 8-12 overall record and a 3-11 showing in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play, the Bloodhounds have earned the No. 7 seed for the 2013 CUNYAC / Con Edison men's volleyball championship and will face No. 2 seed Hunter College in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday April 9, 6:30 p.m. at Hunter College.
If the Bloodhounds win that contest, John Jay will advance into the final four on Friday, where they will play at 4 p.m. against the winner between No. 3 York College and No. 6 Lehman College. The championship match will be that same night at 8 p.m. All of Friday's action will be held at Nat Holman Gymnasium on the campus of the City College of New York.
John Jay's wins this season include three against conference foe Medgar Evers College (two conference and one non-conference) and one against CUNYAC's Lehman College. The Bloodhounds have also had impressive wins against outside competition, including Sarah Lawrence College, Cooper Union College, NYU Poly and St. Joseph's-Brooklyn.
This season, the Bloodhounds have been led by first year player
Jack Palleschi who leads the team with 142 kills and a .232 attack percentage. He also leads the squad with 40 total blocks and 95 digs.
Frankie Galang has also impressed this season with 75 kills and a team-high 34 service aces.
Nicholas Anderson has been the setter most of the season and has offered 296 assists and 18 blocks, while
Yevgeniy Remennik is second on the team with 88 kills and 91 digs.
Nicholas Todaro has had 40 digs and 14 service aces, while
Oshea Alexander has had 63 kills and 30 total blocks.
Korede Griffith has had 58 kills and 63 digs.
