Women's Volleyball Falls at NJCU

Box Score The John Jay women's volleyball team was defeated by New Jersey City University, 3-0 (25-12, 25-21, 25-14) on Tuesday evening in Jersey City, NJ. The Bloodhounds drop to 0-1 on the season while the Gothic Knights improve to 1-4.

After dropping the first set 25-12, the Bloodhounds went toe-to-toe in the second set. Ultimately, New Jersey City took the second set, 25-21 to go up 2-0. The host Gothic Knights took the final set, 25-14 to give them their first win of the season.

Senior Martina Hot led the way for the Bloodhounds with seven kills, one service ace, one dig and had a .294 hitting percentage. Junior Katherine Bonilla recorded 15 assists and five digs. Sophomore Perla Pozo had an all-around great game as she registered four services aces, five digs, one kill and one assist.

Shege Haxhaj and Jade Medley each recorded eight kills for the Gothic Knights. Cindy Garcia dished out 21 assists and Marissa Scarpa and Jessica Perez finished with six service aces and six digs each.

The Bloodhounds' home opener is on Thursday, September 5 against the College of Saint Elizabeth. The match is schedueld for 7:00pm at the Doghouse.
