Women's Volleyball Loses a Pair of Matches at Tri-Match

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Danbury, CT - The John Jay women's volleyball team was defeated in a pair of matches on Saturday afternoon at a tri-match held at Western Connecticut State. The Bloodhounds lost to Southern Maine 3-1 in four sets (25-18, 25-14, 22-25, 25-19) and were defeated by Western Connecticut State 3-0 (25-11, 25-10, 25-13).

With the losses, John Jay is now 2-9 overall (1-4 CUNYAC) this season.

In the first match, Southern Maine took the first two sets. John Jay pulled through to claim set three, before Southern Maine took the match by winning the fourth set, 25-19. Senior Martina Hot led John Jay with nine kills. Katherine Bonilla chipped in with 18 assists, while teammate Perla Pozo added 19 digs for John Jay. Amanda Keppel led Southern Maine with 12 kills.

In game two, the Bloodhounds were retired in three sets by Western Connecticut. Once again, Hot had nine kills for the match, while fellow teammate Bonilla led John Jay with 13 assists and 13 digs. For Western Connecticut Cady Cordes led the way with nine kills, while teammate Danielle Kamisky handed out 17 assists.



John Jay's next contest is this Tuesday, for a home match against St. Joseph's - Brooklyn at 7 p.m. at the Doghouse.
