The men's basketball team fell to the Staten Island Dolphins, 81-42, on Wednesday night at CSI's Sports and Recreational Center. The Bloodhounds fall to 6-9 overall (4-4 in CUNYAC) while the Dolphins improve to 11-2 (6-0 in CUNYAC).Â
The first five minutes of play saw five lead changes as both teams exchanged buckets. With CSI up by one, junior
Korede Griffith made two consecutive shots to put the Bloodhounds up by three. With 13:10 remaining in the half, the Dolphins led by one until sophomore
Kendal Jordan made two free-throws to regain the lead.
Halfway through the first half, CSI had a 15-12 lead until sophomore
Carl Ulysse nailed a jumper to cut the deficit to one. However, the Dolphins ended the half on a 17-0 run to take an 18-point lead heading into the second half.Â
Staten Island started the second half scoring the first 21 points until junior
Anthony Saldarriaga made a free-throw. The Dolphins took the conference game by a score of 81-42.Â
Senior
Antoine Long led the Bloodhounds in scoring with 12 points off the bench. Senior
Oshea Alexander finished with a game-high four blocks. Ulysse recorded six points, two blocks, and a team-high two steals. Junior Darell Robinson and Saldarriaga finished with two assists.Â
Staten Island's Bloochy Magloire finished with a game-high 17 points, three assists, and one block off the bench. Jon Chadwich-Myers recorded 12 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Dylan Bulger had a game-high nine rebounds and a team-high two blocks.
"It was a good game until they went on the run to end the first half," head coach
Otis Fenn said. "We have to forget about tonight's game and rebound next week."
The Bloodhounds will return to the Doghouse on Monday, January 20 against William Paterson at 2:00pm.Â
