Men's Basketball Fights Back But Falls to William Paterson

The men's basketball team was defeated by William Paterson, 91-71, on Monday afternoon at the Doghouse. With the loss, the Bloodhounds drop to 6-10 (4-4 in CUNYAC) on the year while the Pioneers improve to 13-3. 

John Jay was led by sophomore Korede Griffith, who finished with a team-high 15 points, eight rebounds, and a game-high seven steals. Griffith's seven swipes puts him at 62 for the season, which leads the country. Junior Kris Owens recorded 11 points and four rebounds and sophomore Kendal Jordan registered 11 points and two blocks. Senior Oshea Alexander had two blocks and senior Antoine Long picked up seven points off the bench. Juniors Anthony Saldarriaga and Darell Robinson finished with two assists each. 

William Paterson's Sandy Burgos recorded a game-high 35 points to go along with five rebounds. Javae King-Gilchrist registered 17 points and Jaques Conceicao picked up a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. 

"William Paterson has a real good team and we saw that today," head coach Otis Fenn said. "I was happy how we fought back in the second half but we need to come out ready to play in the first."

The Bloodhounds will head into CUNYAC action on Wednesday, January 22, when they visit CCNY at 2:00pm.
