Box Score The men's basketball team lost a tough one to Hunter College, 79-76, on Wednesday night at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds fall to 8-11 on the season and 6-5 in CUNYAC. The Hawks improve to 9-10 overall and 5-6 in the conference.
The first five minutes of the first half went back-and-forth as each team exchanged leads. The Bloodhounds then went on a 10-0 run to give them a 14-5 lead. With just under seven minutes remaining in the half, the Hawks stormed back to tie the game at 24 apiece. John Jay once again regained the lead and took a 46-35 lead heading into the second half.
Early on in the second half, each teams exchanged buckets. The Hawks cut the lead to one halfway through the half but the Bloodhounds responded on a 8-0 run. Hunter tied the game with 52 seconds on the clock and took its first lead on a free-throw. The Hawks would come out with the victory by a score of 79-76.
Junior
Korede Griffith led all scorers with 33 points (24 in the first half), seven rebounds, four assists, three steals, and one block. Junior
Kris Owens registered 11 points and a team-high five assists. Sophomore
Kendal Jordan picked up a team-high nine boards and sophomore
Carl Ulysse added nine points and six rebounds.
The Hawks were led by Frankie Dayton who recorded a team-high 30 points, eight rebounds, a game-high nine assists, and five steals. Lester Anim added 15 points and seven rebounds.
The Bloodhounds will look to regroup on Friday, January 31 when they head to Jamaica, NY to face the York Cardinals at 8:00pm.
