Men's Basketball Falls to York Cardinals

Box Score The men's basketball team was defeated by York College, 94-82, on Friday night in Jamaica, NY. The Bloodhounds fall to 8-12 on the season and 6-6 in CUNYAC. The Cardinals improve to 13-7 overall and 8-3 in the conference. 

John Jay controlled much of the first half until York tied it with 10 minutes remaining. The Cardinals then went on a 6-0 run to give them a 31-23 lead. Heading into the second half, the home team led 46-37. 

The Bloodhounds trimmed the lead to three with 17:49 left to go. However, the Cardinals went on a 7-0 run to increase their lead to 10. A few minutes later, York put together a 5-0 run to put the game out of reach. The Cardinals took the conference game by a score of 94-82. 

Junior Kris Owens scored a team-high 23 points to go along with five rebounds. Junior Korede Griffith recorded 17 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Sophomore Calvin Ingram registered nine points, seven rebounds, and four steals off the bench. Senior Darryl Dennis added nine points, three assists, and one steal. 

York's Michael Woods led all scorers with 30 points. Jaron Williams recorded 19 points, nine rebounds, five blocks, and two steals. Omar St. John added 17 points. 

The Bloodhounds will host the Cougars of Medgar Evers on Monday, February 3, for a game at 7:00pm.
