The women's volleyball team lost to Brooklyn College, before picking up a win against Medgar Evers College on Monday afternoon. The Bloodhounds fell to the Bulldogs, 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-18) and defeated the Cougars, 3-0 (25-8, 25-20, 25-21). With the split, John Jay improves to 7-10 and 2-5 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. Brooklyn improves to 9-18 and 4-3 in the CUNY Athletic Conference, while Medgar drops to 3-20 and 0-6 in conference play.
In the first match for the Bloodhounds, fresman
Rachel Eng had a game-high 12 kills, five digs and two service aces. Teammate
Katherine Bonilla added 14 assists, while
Latanya Buckham contributed with six digs.
In the win against Medgar, Eng had another solid game for John Jay with 11 digs, game-high 7 kills and three service aces, while Bonilla finished with 17 assists and seven digs.
Jeanette Luna added seven service aces and five kills.
The Bloodhounds are on the road on Wednesday for a non-conference match against Mount Saint Vincent at 7 p.m.
