The men's soccer team defeated City College (CCNY), 1-0, on Saturday morning at Randall's Island. The Bloodhounds improve to 6-9 overall and 5-2 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Beavers drop to 6-8 on the season and 3-3 in CUNYAC.
In the first half, both teams had chances but senior
Vitecha Kochaon kept the Beavers off the scoreboard. Neither team could find the back of the net for the first forty-five minutes of play. CCNY outshot the Bloodhounds 9-7. Kochaon made three saves in the half.
Sixteen minutes into the second half, senior
Graysen Carlson dribbled the ball past a Beavers defender and blasted a shot to give the Bloodhounds a 1-0 lead. This was Carlson's 9th goal of the season and third in his last three games.
City College intensified the pressure in the last few minutes but Kochaon made some key saves to preserve a 1-0 win for the Bloodhounds.

Anthony Norena finished with three shots each. Freshman
Ricardo Llanos led the Bloodhounds with two shots on goal. Kochaon finished the contest making eight saves. John Jay and CCNY had 17 shots each.
The Bloodhounds currently sit at number two in the conference. John Jay faces off against Lehman College on Wednesday, October 22, for a key conference match starting at 7:30pm. Prior to the match, the Athletics Department will honor its four seniors.
