The women's soccer team fell to City College (CCNY), 2-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Randall's Island. The Bloodhounds drop to 1-12 overall and 0-3 in the conference. The Beavers improve to 7-2 on the season and 1-1 in CUNYAC.
For the first 25 minutes of play, neither team could find the back of the net. However, in the 27th minute, freshman
Zola Campbell connected on a free-kick to give the Bloodhounds a 1-0 lead. Freshman
Jessica Jean got credited with an assist on the goal. The Beavers responded five minutes later to tie the game. Heading into half time, the game was tied at one apiece.
CCNY outshot John Jay 13-3 in the half. Junior
Andrea Antoni made eight saves in the first 45 minutes.
The Beavers took the lead ten minutes into the second half. Unfortunately, the Bloodhounds were unable to find a way to force overtime and would go on to lose, 2-1.
Campbell finished the contest with a goal and three shots. Senior
Stephannie Rengifo recorded three shots and one shot on goal. Antoni made 10 saves for the Bloodhounds.
The Bloodhounds travel to Medgar Evers College on Friday, October 10, for a conference match at 4pm.
