Box Score The women's soccer team shutout Medgar Evers, 7-0, on Friday afternoon in Brooklyn, NY. The Bloodhounds improve to 2-12 on the season and 1-3 in CUNYAC. The Cougars drop to 0-10 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
John Jay opened the scoring in the first half when freshman
Alexis Castillo recorded her first collegiate goal. In the 15th minute, senior
Stephannie Rengifo scored an unassisted goal to give the Bloodhounds a 2-0 lead. Ten minutes later, Rengifo added her second goal of the game off a breakaway and 4th of the season. With fifteen minutes left to play in the first half, Rengifo crossed a pass to junior
Katelyn Davis, who headed the ball in for her first goal of the season. With a few minutes left in the half, freshman
Faith Howell picked up her first collegiate goal on a pass from the left wing by junior
Tamta Beriashvili.
For the first half, the Bloodhounds outshot the Cougars 21-3. Junior goalkeeper
Andrea Antoni made two saves in the half.
Five minutes into the second half, sophomore
Jessica Jean scored her second goal of the season on a pass from Howell. Five minutes later, Davis picked up her second goal of the game and second of the season.Â
Freshman
Kelli Doherty recorded three saves in net. Rengifo finished the contest with two goals, two assists, and seven shots on goal. Freshman
Nicole Silva recorded her first collegiate assist. John Jay registered a season-high 39 shots.
The Bloodhounds host York College on Saturday, October 18, for a conference match at Randall's Island Field 75 at 12pm.
