The rifle team lost in air rifle and smallbore against the United States Coast Guard Academy, but then defeated SUNY Maritime in smallbore, 2130-2048, over the weekend. The Bloodhounds are now 6-3 in the MAC in air rifle and 3-4 in smallbore.
The Bloodhounds fell to USCG in air rifle, 2278-2214, and 2145-2130 in smallbore. In smallbore, John Jay was led by sophomore
Ronald Kopec, who fired a 542. Junior
Matthew Pascual finished second with a 535. Rounding out the top four were sophomore
Angelica DeAraujo (531) and senior
David Vegvari (522).
In air rifle, DeAraujo was the leader with a score of 561. Junior
Connie Villon placed second with a 554. Kopec and Vegvari finished in third and fourth with a score of 551 and 548, respectively.
The Bloodhounds next match will be at John Jay's Marksmanship Training facility on Saturday, December 6. John Jay will compete against SUNY Maritime in the Big Apple Championship.
