Cambridge, MA – The John Jay College rifle team returned to action on Saturday, competing against host Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in a competition that also included the University of Rhode Island.
The Bloodhounds posted a combined aggregate score of 4,302, recording 2,054 points in smallbore and 2,248 in air rifle. MIT finished with a team aggregate of 4,508, totaling 2,205 in smallbore and 2,303 in air rifle while the Rams finished with a team aggregate of 4,407, tallying 2,171 and 2,236 in air rifle.
JB Zhao paced the Bloodhounds with a fifth-place overall finish, posting a combined score of 1,112 with 36 centers. Zhao turned in John Jay's top smallbore performance, firing a 551 to finish third in the discipline. Zhao added a 561 in air rifle, placing ninth overall.
Mahek Dalwala followed with a strong showing, finishing seventh in the overall individual standings with an aggregate score of 1,077. Dalwala led John Jay in air rifle, recording a 573 with 24 centers to secure fourth place in the event. Dalwala also contributed a 504 in smallbore.
Allana Dan placed eighth overall with a combined score of 1,010, highlighted by a 566 in air rifle, good for seventh place. Dan added a 444 in smallbore to round out her performance.
Cassidy Derosia finished ninth in the aggregate standings with a score of 1,004, registering a 477 in smallbore and a 527 in air rifle.
In additional individual performances, Noelia Gonzalez posted a 492 in smallbore, placing eighth in the event, while
Elaine Yue contributed a 548 in air rifle, finishing 11th.
MIT's Eleanor Yang claimed top individual honors with an aggregate score of 1,144, finishing first in both smallbore (563) and air rifle (581). William Knowlton followed in second place with a combined 1,131, while Hongjia Meng rounded out the top three with 1,117.

The Bloodhounds will return to competition on Saturday, October 24, when they travel to West Point, New York, to compete against Army West Point and Maritime College.
