The women's basketball team picked up their first win of the season against CCNY, 70-65, on Homecoming at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds are now 1-5 on the season and 1-2 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Beavers drop to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in CUNYAC.
The first 10 minutes of the first half consisted of four lead changes. With 10:35 remaining in the half, sophomore
Brianna Cunningham gave the Bloodhounds an 11-9 lead on a layup. One minute later, sophomore
Josephine Diaz and junior
Terri Chu increased the lead to eight on consecutive three-pointers.Â
The Beavers responded by cutting the deficit to four with 3:20 left in the half. Two minutes later, the Bloodhounds led 23-22 but Diaz nailed another three to increase John Jay's lead back up to to four.Â
Heading into halftime, the Bloodhounds led 26-24.Â
Senior
Amanda Jimenez opened up the scoring in the second half with a lay-up. With 18:26 remaining in the game, CCNY regained the lead courtesy of a 9-0 run. The Bloodhounds responded right away with a 6-0 run of their own to retake the lead, 34-33.Â

Victoria Royal and a three-pointer by Chu increased John Jay's lead to six. With 8:32 left, the Bloodhounds led 46-43.
John Jay's largest lead of the night came at 3:40, when Cunningham made two free-throws. The Beavers made a late comeback but the Bloodhounds were able to hold on for the win, 70-65.Â
Cunningham led all scorers with 28 points, to go along with 13 rebounds, 2 steals, and one block. Chu recorded 17 points and Diaz had 10. Royal grabbed 11 rebounds and Jimenez dished out four assists.Â
The Bloodhounds will look to extend their win streak on Thursday, when they face the Dolphins of CSI. Game time is at 5:00pm and will be live streamed atÂ
