Men's Volleyball Can't Hold On To Lead Against CCNY

The men's volleyball team fell to CCNY, 3-2 (23-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-17, 15-11), in a five set thriller on Thursday evening at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds drop to 2-7 on the season and 0-4 in CUNYAC. The Beavers improve to 7-11 and 3-3 in the conference. 

The first set went back-and-forth with both teams exchanging points. John Jay would go on to take the first set, 25-23. The second set was similar to the first, however CCNY recorded the final five points of the match to win, 25-20. The third consisted of the Bloodhounds leading for much of the set. John Jay registered eight of the final twelve points to take a 2-1 set lead.

CCNY got off to an early lead in the fourth and would take the set to tie the game. in the final and deciding set, the Bloodhounds recorded the first three points. The Beavers tied the game at seven apiece before the team's switched sides. CCNY would go on to record the next three points to give them a 10-7 advantage. The visitor's registered the last two points of the match to win the set, 15-11. 

In the loss, sophomore Jack Palleschi, sophomore Nicholas Anderson, and senior Yevgeniy Remennik picked up double-doubles. Palleschi finished with a game-high 17 kills to go along with 10 kills and five blocks. Anderson dished out a game-high 32 assists, 10 digs, seven kills, and five blocks. Remennik recorded a game-high 14 digs, and 10 kills. Junior Korede Griffith added seven kills and six digs. Sophomore Francisco Miranda also was in double-digits in digs with 13. Junior Eric Li had four blocks.  

CCNY's Brian Yik Lam and Nicholas Siriban finished with 14 kills each and a combined 25 digs. Jia Zuen Liu Liu dished out 28 assists and David Avezov had a game-high two service aces. 

The Bloodhounds will head to Hunter College on Wednesday, March 5 for a conference match at 6pm.
