The men's volleyball team defeated NYU-Poly in their first game of the season on Tuesday evening at the Doghouse with a final score of 3-2 (25-22, 17-25, 25-19, 21-25, 18-16). The Bloodhounds start the season 1-0 overall, while the Fighting Blue Jays drop to 0-4.Â
John Jay was led by sophomore
Jack Palleschi with 23 kills, six digs, and four service aces. Â Sophomore
Francisco Miranda tallied up 10 kills and senior
Yevgeniy Remennik added 13 digs, three service aces and three assists. Sophomore
Nicholas Anderson dished out 38 assists and recorded eight service aces and eight digs.Â
Fighting Blue Jays' Fild Kroqi recorded 27 kills for the night with three service aces and seven digs. Rishi Sarkar registered 42 assists and 10 digs.Â
"I am happy with our performance in the first match of the season," first-year head coach
Eder Mathelier said. "We have a lot to look forward to and we're going to surprise many teams."
The Bloodhounds will head to Sarah Lawrence on Thursday, February 6 at 7:00pm for a non-conference match.Â
