The men's soccer team was shutout by Ramapo College, 3-0, on Friday afternoon in Mahwah, NJ. On Saturday, the Bloodhounds lost to DeSales University in the consolation game. John Jay starts the season 0-2.
Ramapo took an early lead when Kevin Monaghan scored nearly five minutes into the contest. For the first half, John Jay recorded one shot. Junior
Andrew Berman got the start in net and made six saves in the half.
Ten minutes into the second half, the hosts scored another goal to increase their lead to two. Late in the half, they added an insurance goal and would take the nonconference game by a score of 3-0.
Senior
Pablo Rojas recorded two shots and two shots on goal. Senior
Graysen Carlson registered two shots. Berman finished with seven saves and freshman
Wilfredo Valentin picked up one save.
Andrew Kirshteyn finished with two assists for Ramapo.
In the match against DeSales, the Bulldogs scored three goals in the first half and would not look back. John Jay was unable to get on the scoreboard, and fell 3-0.
Senior
Christian Munoz led the Bloodhounds with two shots. Seniors
Justin Osorio and Carlson, Munoz, and junior
Anthony Norena all recorded one shot on goal. Berman and Valentin picked up a save each.
The Bloodhounds host the College at Old Westbury on Wednesday, September 3 at 4:00pm at Aviator Field.
