The women's soccer team picked up their first win of the 2014 season as they defeated Yeshiva, 3-1 in a non-conference matchup at Tibbets Brook Park on Wednesday night. With the win, the Bloodhounds improve to 1-4, while the Maccabees drop to 1-4.
With 9:53 into the first half, the Bloodhounds got some help from the Yeshiva defense as the Maccabees accidentally knocked in a John Jay corner kick giving the Bloodhounds a 1-0 lead. Late in the first half, the Maccabees got on the board when Shlomit Braun knocked in a loose ball after it ricocheted off of a John Jay player when goalkeeper
Kelli Doherty tried to knock it away.

Stephannie Rengifo's two goals in the second half put the Bloodhounds back on top where they remained for the rest of the game. With 5:43 into the second half, Rengifo laced a free kick passed the Maccabees goalkeeper to give John Jay a 2-1 lead. At the 74:55 mark, the 5'5 forward struck again to put the Bloodhounds up by two. Rengifo picked up two goals and three shots on goal for the game.
John Jay outshot Yeshiva 22-3 as they took a 5-3 advantage in the first half and continuted with a 17-0 advantage in the second half.

Casey Sommers picked up her first collegiate win of her career.
The Bloodhounds return home on Wednesday, September 17th at 4 p.m. for a conference matchup against City College of New York at Randall's Island Field 83.
