The rifle team began MAC play on Saturday and went 2-1-1 against the Virginia Military Institute (VMI). The Bloodhounds won in mixed air, 2286-2218, and women air, 2286-2226. John Jay tied in women smallbore, 2116-2116, and fell in mixed smallbore, 2184-2216. The Bloodhounds are 2-0 in air rifle and 0-1-1 in smallbore.
Freshman
Lily Graham led the Bloodhounds in air rifle as the Harrington Park, NJ native fired a 583. The score is a new school record, which was previously held by Steve Wilson and Jenna Hanson (579). Junior
Angelica DeAraujo placed second with a score of 569. Rounding out the top five were senior
Connie Villon (568), junior
Ronald Kopec (566), and junior
Suzana Adovic (542). The combined score of 2286 is a new school record. The top previous score was 2263.
In smallbore, Kopec finished atop the leaderboard for John Jay with a 554. Graham finished in second (553) and DeAraujo placed third (510). Rounding out the top five were senior
Matthew Pascual and Adovic with a 499 and 485, respectively.
The Bloodhounds travel to the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT on Saturday, October 24, for a match against USCGA and Yale University.
