The women's volleyball team picked up two conference wins on Monday, October 12, at a CUNYAC Multi-Match at Brooklyn College. The Bloodhounds defeated Medgar Evers, 3-1 (25-10, 25-7, 22-25, 25-9), and Brooklyn College, 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-22). John Jay improves to 7-11 on the season and 3-3 in the CUNY Athletic Conference.
In the match against the Cougars of Medgar Evers, sophomore
Rachel Eng led the team with a team-high 10 kills, a game-high six aces, and a team-high six digs. Junior
Katrina Zapanta dished out a game-high 24 assists to go along with two service aces. Sophomore
Savannah Davis and freshman
Nyla Lloyd-Clarke finished with seven kills and two digs each. Senior
Latanya Buckham recorded four kills, four aces, and four digs. Senior
Perla Pozo registered five digs and four aces and sophomore
Kimberly Wright had four kills.
Against the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College, Eng recorded her ninth double-double of the season with a game-high 12 kills, game-high 18 digs, and a game-high five service aces. Davis recorded five kills and 10 digs. Zapanta finished with a team-high 18 assists, five kills, and five digs. Buckham and Pozo had 11 digs each.
The Bloodhounds travel to the College of New Rochelle on Saturday, October 17, for a non-conference match at 1:00 pm.
