Abdul Malik Muftau Records Two Goals as Men's Soccer Falls to Brooklyn College

The men's soccer team lost to Brooklyn College, 3-2, on Wednesday afternoon at Randall's Island. The Bloodhounds drop to 5-9 on the year and 3-3 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Bulldogs improve to 7-5-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the conference.

John Jay opened the scoring in the eighth minute when junior Abdul Malik Muftau received a pass from freshman Oliver Cisneros and buried it for his fourth goal of the season.

The rest of the half was quiet on the scoreboard as junior Sehad Mujovic made two saves in the half. John Jay outshot Brooklyn by a margin of 8-5.

In the second half, the Bulldogs scored two goals within the first six minutes to take a 2-1 lead. Ten minutes later, Malik Muftau took a shot from outside the box and deflected into the back of the net to tie the game at two apiece. Sophomore Curtis Harbers was credited with the assist.

With twenty minutes remaining in the second half, Brooklyn scored to regain the lead, 3-2. John Jay had scoring opportunities towards the end but couldn't find a way to tie the game.

The Bloodhounds host City College (CCNY) on Saturday, October 17, at 3:30 pm at Randall's Field 70. Prior to the match, the Athletics Department will honor four seniors, Graysen Carlson, Drew Guerra, Pablo Rojas, and Justin Osorio, who are playing in their final regular season match.
