The men's soccer team shutout Lehman Lightning, 2-0, on Wednesday afternoon in the Bronx. The Bloodhounds improve to 6-10 on the season and finished with a 4-4 conference record. The Lightning drop to 7-7-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the conference.
The first half went back and forth as Lehman outshot John Jay by a margin of 7-6. In the 16th minute, senior
Graysen Carlson caused a turnover in the box and recorded his 17th goal of the season. Junior
Sehad Mujovic made the start in goal and picked up four saves in the first forty-five minutes.
Fifteen minutes into the second half, junior
Alexis Bustillo netted the second goal of the game and second of the season. Sophomore
Curtis Harbers was credited with the assist, his eighth of the season.
Mujovic recorded the shutout for John Jay as he made five saves. The Lightning outshot the Bloodhounds 12-10.
With the win, John Jay has secured the fifth playoff spot. The Bloodhounds will face either Baruch College or City College (CCNY). Check the website later in the week for more information.
The Bloodhounds travel to St. Joseph's Long Island on Friday, October 23, at 7:00 pm for their final match of the regular season.
