The men's soccer team shutout Medgar Evers College, 8-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Aviator Field. The Bloodhounds improve to 4-8 overall and 3-2 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Cougars drop to 2-10 on the year and 1-4 in the conference.
The first twenty minutes was scoreless until senior
Graysen Carlson netted his 15th goal of the season from a pass by junior Abdul Malik Muftau. Seven minutes later, junior
Sehad Mujovic scored his first collegiate goal on a pass from Carlson.
With 15:11 left to play in the half, Malik Muftau found the back of the net for his second goal of the season. Senior
Pablo Rojas was credited with the assist. John Jay added a fourth goal and led 4-0 at the half. The Bloodhounds outshot Medgar Evers 14-3. Sophomore
Daniel Hoyte registered three saves.
Thirteen minutes into the second half, junior
Gerardo Flores-Ramirez scored his first goal of the season on an assist from junior Tosin Abudiore. Flores-Ramirez was not finished as the Pelham native found the back of the net for his second goal of the match. Mujovic and junior
Kardon Bartley were credited with the assist.
Freshman
Frank Loria gave the Bloodhounds a 7-0 lead after netting his second goal of the season. Two minutes later, senior
Drew Guerra scored his first of the season, on an assist by Rojas, and the Bloodhounds would go on to secure the shutout.
Hoyte recorded the shutout making four saves. John Jay outshot the Cougars 23-4.
The Bloodhounds open up a three-game homestand when they host SUNY Canton on Saturday, October 10, at 4:30 pm at Randall's Field 73.
