The men's basketball team fell to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CA), 80-44, on Friday evening at the Doghouse. With the loss, the Bloodhounds drop to 0-2 on the season. CMS improves to 2-2 overall.

Jesse Higgins recorded 11 points, on 5-of-9 shooting, with four rebounds, and a team-high three assists. Freshman
Essien Epps registered 11 points, a team-high six rebounds, and one steal. Junior
Geno Ware picked up 10 points and four rebounds. Senior
Calvin Ingram swiped a team-high two steals and freshman
David Morris grabbed five rebounds.
Early on in the first half, the game went back and forth as the guests led 5-4. CMS then went on a 19-4 run to lead 24-8 with 11:23 left in the half. The visitors followed that up with a 10-2 run. At half, John Jay trailed 42-17.
Down 53-25 in the second half, the Bloodhounds scored the next nine points to cut the deficit to 53-34 with 12:53 remaining. Five minutes later, CMS increased its lead to 66-35. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps would go on to win by a final score of 80-44.
