The men's volleyball team split on Saturday in a quad-match at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds defeated St. Joseph's Brooklyn, 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-11) but then fell to #4 Juniata College, 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-8). John Jay is now 10-7 on the season.
In their match against the Bears of St. Joseph's, senior
Yevgeniy Remennik and freshman
Juan DeJesus finished with double-digit kills. Remennik had a game-high 11 kills, four service aces, and four digs. DeJesus recorded 10 kills, a team-high eight digs, and one ace. Junior
Jack Palleschi dished out a game-high 27 assists to go along with eight kills, four service aces, six digs, and one block. Sophomore
Carmelo Cintron Jr. added four aces and six digs. Freshman
Alexander Santana registered four kills and two blocking attempts.
In game two of the day, DeJesus finished with a team-high four kills and six digs. Remennik picked up six digs and John Jay's lone ace. Palleschi had nine assists, two kills, and four digs. Cintron Jr. added four digs.
In total for the afternoon, John Jay recorded 50 kills, 42 assists, 16 aces, 50 digs, one block, and eight blocking attempts.
The Bloodhounds return to conference action on Tuesday, March 24, when they had to #10 Baruch College for a match at 6 p.m.
