Baseball Loses to Rutgers-Newark on Tuesday

The baseball team fell to Rutgers-Newark, 10-0, on Tuesday afternoon at the Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium in Newark, NJ. The Bloodhounds drop to 0-4 on the early season. The Scarlet Raiders improve to 5-7 on the year. 

The hosts jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two full innings. They increased their lead to six after the sixth inning. In Rutgers-Newark's final frame, the Scarlet Raiders scored two runs.  

Senior Noel Sanchez recorded John Jay's lone hit in the contest. Freshman Brian Garcia also reached base via a hit-by-pitch. 

Freshman Yordan Ortiz got his first collegiate start and threw three innings while allowing three runs (one earned). Freshman Joe Gregory, senior Michael Fabre, and senior David Schildwachter all came in in relief. 

The Bloodhounds will open CUNYAC action on Friday, March 27, when they face City College (CCNY) at Baseball Heaven in Yaphank, NY.
