Men's Volleyball Sweeps CUNYAC Multi-Match; Off to Best Start in Program History

The men's volleyball team defeated Medgar Evers College, 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-12), and Lehman College (25-20, 25-20, 22-25, 25-23), on Saturday afternoon in a CUNYAC Multi-Match at York College. The Bloodhounds improve to 8-5 overall and 7-3 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. 

In the win against the Cougars, senior Yevgeniy Remennik led the Bloodhounds with a game-high 15 kills, eight digs, two assists, and one service ace. Freshman Juan DeJesus recorded his first career double-double with 11 kills, a game-high 13 digs, and had John Jay's lone block. Junior Nicholas Anderson picked up a game-high 33 assists, five kills, six digs, and a game-high seven service aces. Freshman Gary Wu added eight blocks and two aces. Freshman Alexander Santana had six kills and freshman Brandon Dolores had five digs. 

In the rematch against the Lightning, Anderson, junior Jack Palleschi, and DeJesus recorded 10 kills each. Anderson also dished out 28 assists and has seven digs. Palleschi also had 11 digs, five assists, and two aces. Remennik registered seven kills, six assists, and 10 digs. Santana finished with four kills, two assists, and a team-high two blocks. Wu added three digs. 

John Jay is off to its best start since its inception in 2012. The Bloodhounds will look to make program history on Thursday, March 17, when they look for its program-best 9th win of the season. John Jay will travel to the College of Staten Island for a match starting at 7 p.m.
