The softball team swept Baruch College, 12-4 and 14-4, on Saturday afternoon on the campus of the College of Staten Island. The Bloodhounds improve to 8-14 overall and 3-3 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Bearcats drop to 2-10 on the season and 2-6 in conference play.
In game one, Baruch took a 1-0 lead after the top of the second inning. In the bottom half of the inning, junior

Lisa Pellegrino and sophomore
Danielle Minaya recorded back-to-back RBI walks to give John Jay a 3-1 lead.
The Bloodhounds added to their lead in the fourth inning when they scored four runs. In the next inning, the Bearcats cut the deficit to 7-4 after plating three runs.
John Jay responded in the bottom of the fifth on a RBI double by Pellegrino, RBI triple by senior
Jennifer Varela, and a RBI single by senior
Jessica Zaccari. The Bloodhounds added two runs in the sixth and would go on to win, 12-4.
Senior
Sara McKenna made her first start of the season and went six innings, allowing five hits, four runs (three earned), and struck out seven. Pellegrino finished 2-for-4 with four RBI's and a run scored. Lam went 2-for-3 and Varela and sophomores
Jennifer Pace and
Lisbet Lorenzo registered two runs scored each.
In game two, the Bloodhounds scored nine runs in the bottom of the first. Varela and senior
Jocelyn Ocasio recorded RBI's in the inning. John Jay scored one run in the second and third innings and three in the fourth to go on to win by a final score of 14-4.
Minaya went 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs. Pellegrino was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base. Varela and Zaccari recorded two hits and two RBI's each. Lorenzo finished 2-for-4 with one RBI and two runs.
Freshman
Catherine Alvarado got the start and threw 3.1 innings, giving up two hits, three runs, and struck out three. Pellegrino pitched in relief to throw the final 1.2 innings.
The Bloodhounds will face St. Joseph's College Brooklyn on Sunday, April 12, at Randall's Island at 3:30 p.m.
