John Jay improves to 6-10 on the season and 1-1 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Lightning are now 5-4 on the year and 1-3 in conference play.

Lehman opened up the game scoring six runs in the first inning and two runs in the second. In the bottom of the second, senior Magnolia Perez tripled to right field and later scored on a throwing error.

In the top of the third, the Lightning increased its lead to 11-1 and the score would remain that until the bottom of the fifth. John Jay plated eight runs with RBI's by Perez, senior Jessica Zaccari, sophomore Danielle Minaya, and freshman Lisa Pellegrino

The Bloodhounds got within one run after scoring in the bottom of the six to trail 11-10. The Lightning added five insurance runs in the seventh, which turned out to be pivotal. John Jay rallied in the bottom half of the inning by scoring four runs but were unable to tie the game.

Minaya and Pellegrino both finished 4-for-5 with three RBI's and two runs scored. Perez went 3-for-4 with one RBI and three runs scored. Varela and sophomore Jennifer Pace combined going 5-for-9 with five runs scored. Zaccari registered three RBI's.

Catherine Alvarado got the start in the circle and did not allow a run until the final inning. The freshman pitched a complet game and allowed six hits, three runs while striking out three.

The Bloodhounds added to their lead in the second inning with Zaccari, Ocasio, and junior Jamie Lam recorded RBI's.

Zaccari finished 2-for-3 with two RBI's and two runs. Varela and Cruzado picked up a triple each. Pellegrino had two hits and Ocasio recorded two RBI's.

The Bloodhounds will travel to Brooklyn College on Tuesday, April 7, for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
