The softball team went 2-2 over the weekend. On Saturday, the Bloodhounds swept York College, 17-2 and 12-3, but then fell to CSI, 4-3 and 20-1, on Sunday. John Jay is now 13-17 on the season and 5-7 in the conference.
In game one against the Cardinals, John Jay scored two in the first inning and led 10-0 after two full innings. John Jay scored seven runs in the next two innings to win the first game of the day.

Sara McKenna got the start and pitched two innings. Freshman
Lisa Pellegrino threw the final three innings to pick up the win. Freshman
Nalena Cruzado was 3-for-4 with three RBI's and two runs scored. Senior
Jennifer Varela went 2-for-4 with one RBI and three runs. Senior
Jocelyn Ocasio picked up two hits and sophomores
Jennifer Pace and
Danielle Minaya scored three runs each.
In game two, the Bloodhounds scored all of its runs in the first three innings. Freshman
Catherine Alvarado pitched a no-hitter to pick up her fifth win of the season. Pellegrino went 1-for-2 with three RBI's and one run. Minaya and Pace combined for two hits, two RBI's, and five runs. Cruzado registered two hits and one RBI.
On Sunday against the Dolphins of CSI, Staten Island jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after the first inning. CSI added a run in the top of the fifth to lead 4-0. In the bottom half of the inning, the Bloodhounds scored three runs to cut the deficit to one. However, John Jay could not find a way to tie the game and fell, 4-3.
McKenna made the start in the circle and pitched a complete game, allowing eight hits, and three earned runs. Pace finished 2-for-4 and Ocasio picked up a hit and run.
The second game started with the Dolphins plating 11 runs in the first three innings. Pellegrino started and allowed two earned runs in two innings. McKenna pitched in relief to throw the final three innings. Varela finished 2-for-3 and Pellegrino recorded an RBI.
The Bloodhounds host Mount Saint Mary College (NY) on Tuesday, April 21, for a non-conference doubleheader at 3 p.m.
