The #4 softball team cruised to a 11-1 victory against #5 Lehman College on Day One of the CUNYAC championship on Wednesday afternoon. The Bloodhounds improve to 14-19 on the year. The Lightning drop to 9-15.

In the top of the first, the Lightning recorded one run on two hits in the inning to lead 1-0. In the bottom half of the inning, John Jay responded by plating five runs via a two-run double by freshman
Nalena Cruzado.
In the next frame, freshman
Lisa Pellegrino delivered a two-run double to increase the Bloodhounds lead to 8-1. John Jay tacked on three more runs in the third inning to win, 11-1.
Sara McKenna got the start in the circle. After allowing a run in the first, the senior did not allow a hit the rest of the game. McKenna threw five innings, allowing two hits, one run, and struck out eight.
Pellegrino was 2-for-3 two RBI's and two runs scored. Senior
Jocelyn Ocasio went 2-for-3 with three runs and a stolen base. Junior
Alinda Nicaj picked up two hits and Cruzado registered two RBI's. Sophomore
Danielle Minaya had a hit and two runs scored.
John Jay advances to Day Two of the CUNYAC championship on Friday, May 1, at the College of Staten Island. The Bloodhounds will face #1 CSI at 12 p.m.
