The men's soccer team defeated Hunter College, 3-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Randall's Island. The Bloodhounds improve to 2-6 on the season and 1-0 in the conference. The Hawks fall to 3-5 overall and 0-1 in CUNYAC.
The first thirty-eight minutes of the match was quiet as neither team could find the back of the net. In the 39th minute, senior
Graysen Carlson netted the first goal of the game on a cross from freshman
Frank Loria.
John Jay outshot Hunter 4-3 in the first half. Sophomore
Daniel Hoyte made two saves.
Fifteen minutes into the second half, Carlson scored his second goal of the game on a pass by sophomore
Curtis Harbers. Seventeen minutes later, the Hawks responded with a goal to cut their deficit to 2-1.
With two minutes left to play, Carlson sealed the victory by scoring his third goal of the game on a cross from Harbers. The captain now has two hat-tricks on the season and 11 goals.
Hoyte recorded three saves in the win. John Jay and Hunter finished with nine shots each.
The Bloodhounds travel to Baruch College on Saturday, September 26, for a conference match at 10:00 am.
