Women's Basketball Drops Non-Conference Game to Ramapo

The women's basketball team fell to Ramapo College, 70-44, on Friday evening in Mahwah, NJ. The Bloodhounds drop to 0-2 on the season. The Roadrunners improve to 2-0 overall. 

Senior Cassandra Taylor led John Jay with a team-high 16 points, a game-high seven rebounds, and a team-high two steals. Senior Shaliyah Ruiz recorded 10 points and five rebounds. Junior Dana Nicholson and freshman Uju Nwaigwe combined for 13 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Karen Rosario grabbed six boards. 

Ramapo took an early lead and went up 24-6 at the end of the first. John Jay chipped away and trailed 25-17 at half. The Bloodhounds outscored the Roadrunners in the fourth quarter by a margin of 18-14. 

John Jay went 15-for-52 (28.8%) from the field, 3-for-10 (30.0%) from behind the arc, and 11-for-21 (52.4%) from the free throw line. 

The Bloodhounds will take on St. Joseph's College Brooklyn in the consolation game on Saturday, November 19, at 12:00 pm.
