Rifle Wins 9th Straight Big Apple Championship on Senior Day; Improves to 6-0 in Air

FINAL STATS

The rifle team won their ninth straight Big Apple Championship in air rifle, 2249-2015, on Saturday morning in the Marksmanship Training Facility at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds continue to remain undefeated in air rifle with a record of 6-0. The Privateers drop to 0-2. 

Sophomore Lily Graham led all scorers with a match-high 575. Seniors Angelica DeAraujo (567) and Ronald Kopec (559) placed second and third for John Jay, respectively. Rounding out the top four was sophomore Ida Sato with a score of 548. 

During the match, the Athletics Department honored Angelica DeAraujo and Ronald Kopec, who were competing in their final home match of their collegiate career.

The Bloodhounds travel to Philadelphia, PA on Friday, February 3, for the NRA Sectional. The Bloodhounds will face Indiana University of Pennsylvania, University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, Loyola University (MD), and Penn State ROTC.
