The men's basketball team closed out the regular season and fell to CIty College (CCNY), 82-71, on Friday night at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds end the year with a 3-22 overall record and 2-14 conference record. The Beavers improve to 13-11 and 7-8 in CUNYAC.

Ronald Merriwether recorded a career-high 17 points, four rebounds, one block, and one steal in his final collegiate game. Junior
Kiernan Hayes registered 10 points and eight rebounds. Junior
Jesse Higgins picked up 14 points and two assists. Freshman
Essien Epps added 13 points, three rebounds, a game-high four steals, and a game-high two blocks. Junior
Geno Ware came off the bench and had nine points, five rebounds, and two steals.
John Jay jumped out to an early 6-2 lead but the Beavers took their first lead on five unanswered points. With the Bloodhounds trailing by two, CCNY went on an 8-0 run to go up 20-10 with 12:40 on the clock. John Jay cut the deficit to six but the guests increased its lead to 30-16. With 1:57 left, CCNY took its largest advantage, 40-20, but the Bloodhounds closed the gap at the end of the half to go into overtime trailing 42-27.
The Bloodhounds scored the first four points of the second to cut the deficit to 11. The Beavers responded on a 10-3 run to lead 52-34 with 16:17 remaining. With John Jay trailing by 17, the Bloodhounds scored six consecutive points to make it 58-47. The visitors opened up the game after going on a 12-2 run to lead 72-50. John Jay made a late comeback but eventually fell by a final score of 82-71.
John Jay went 24-for-63 (38.1%) from the field, 2-for-11 (18.2%) from behind the arc, and 21-for-25 (84.0%) from the charity stripe.

Ronald Merriwether, who were playing in their final regular season home game of their collegiate career.
The Bloodhounds were eliminated from the CUNYAC postseason tournament.
