The baseball team lost to Manhattanville College, 17-5 and 4-1, on Sunday afternoon in Purchase, NY. The Bloodhounds fall to 1-10 on the year. The Valiants improve to 3-5 overall.
In game one, the hosts scored six in the first and led 7-0 after two full innings. In the top of the third, sophomore
Robert Moncino and senior
Esteban Soler led off with back-to-back singles. Sophomore
Zach Hyde reached on a fielder's choice and with runners on the corners, Hyde stole second which allowed Moncino to score. Manhattanville added to their lead in the third by scoring eight.
In the top of the fifth, freshman
Jonathan Warasila recorded a two-run single and senior
Nick Gioia and junior
Jason Gonzalez picked up RBI singles. Sophomore
Joe Gregory got the start for the Bloodhounds. Freshmen
Marco Alonso and
Christian Pacheco and senior
David Schildwachter all pitched scoreless innings in relief. Soler finished the game 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and Moncino collected two hits.
In the second game, John Jay opened the scoring in the second on a wild pitch to score junior
Dylan Laudano. The Valiants responded and scored in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to win 4-1. Senior
Matthew Quirindongo threw a complete game, five hits, four runs, and struck out two. Junior
R.J. Davila registered two hits.
The Bloodhounds travel to Maritime College on Wednesday, March 16, for a single game at 4:00 pm.
