The baseball team lost to the College of Staten Island, 9-3 and 7-1, on Saturday afternoon in Staten Island, NY. The Bloodhounds fall to 9-20 on the year and 2-4 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Dolphins improve to 17-9 overall and 4-0 in the conference.
In game one, CSI scored two runs in the bottom of the first. The Bloodhounds responded in the top of the second when freshman
Jonathan Warasila led off with a single. Freshman
Brandon Thomas then blasted an RBI triple to right field to cut the deficit to 2-1. Junior
Jason Gonzalez followed with a triple down the right field line to tie the score at two apiece. John Jay tacked on another run to go up 3-2.
The Dolphins plated three runs in the bottom half to regain the lead, 5-3. The hosts added one run in the fourth and three runs in the fifth to win by a final score of 9-3.
Thomas finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored. Laudano was 1-for-1 and sophomore
Brian Garcia had a hit. Sophomore
Chris Rodriguez got the start on the mound. Freshman
Jurrel Diaz threw 4.1 innings in relief and allowed no earned runs.
In game two, the Dolphins scored four runs in the first three innings. John Jay got on the board in the top of the fifth when junior
R.J. Davila led off with a double to left field. Junior
Brian Cabral singled to make it first and third and no out. Thomas came through with an RBI single through the right side.
CSI completed the doubleheader sweep after taking game two, 7-1. Thomas was 2-for-3. Senior
