The softball team fell to the College of Mount Saint Vincent, 6-1 and 14-1, on Saturday afternoon in Purchase, NY. The Bloodhounds drop to 5-12 on the season. The Dolphins improve to 14-12 overall.
In game one, the first three innings were scoreless. In the top of the fourth, junior
Alinda Nicaj led off with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. With one out, sophomore
Lisa Pellegrino picked up an RBI single to give John Jay a 1-0 lead.
Mount Saint Vincent scored three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to win by a final score of 6-1. Pellegrino threw a complete game and struck out three.
In game two, the Dolphins plated three in the bottom of the first. In the following inning, freshman
Karen Rosario recorded a two-out RBI double to left field to cut the deficit to 3-1.
CMSV added six runs in the second and five in the third to win, 14-1. Junior
Jennifer Pace registered John Jay's other hit. Nicaj pitched four innings.
The Bloodhounds travel to the College of Staten Island on Monday, April 18, for a conference doubleheader at 4:30 pm.
