The women's soccer team shutout York College, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at Randall's Island. The Bloodhounds improve to 3-5 overall and are now 1-1 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Cardinals drop to 2-4 on the season and 1-2 in the conference.
Right before halftime, sophomore
Kali Moss blasted a perfect shot from outside the box to give the Bloodhounds a 1-0 lead heading into the half. Freshman
Sydney Solimani was credited with the assist. John Jay outshot the guests 15-6 and junior
Kelli Doherty made six saves in the first forty-five minutes of play.
Five minutes into the second half, junior
Zola Campbell scored on a corner kick to give the Bloodhounds a two-goal advantage. Solimani and freshman
Mary Jo Anzano assisted on the play. Five minutes later, Moss recorded her second goal of the contest from passes by Solimani and sophomore
May Dempsey.
Doherty picked up her first shutout of the season with 12 saves. Moss led John Jay with a game-high eight shots, a game-high seven shots on goal, and two goals. Solimani finished with three assists.
The Bloodhounds host Maritime College on Wednesday, September 28, at 4:00 pm at Randall's Island Field 91.
