The men's basketball team lost to City College, 73-59, on Wednesday night at the Nat Holman Gymnasium. The Bloodhounds fall to 1-10 on the season and 0-5 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Beavers improve to 5-6 overall and 3-2 in conference play. 

Senior Kiernan Hayes recorded his second double-double of the season with 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Sophomore Essien Epps picked up 15 points and five rebounds. Freshman Wyatt Harkins finished with 15 points and three assists. Junior MiKing Richardson added 12 points and three assists. Sophomore Jordan Aiken swiped a team-high three steals. 

With the Beavers leading 4-3, the hosts went on an 8-0 run to go up by nine with 14:36 left in the first half. Epps and Harkins responded with a combined seven points to trail 12-10. The next six minutes went back-and-forth as CCNY led 21-18 with 5:41 remaining. The Beavers then went on an 11-2 run to lead 32-20. The Bloodhounds closed the half scoring the final five points to trail 32-25 heading into halftime.

With CCNY holding a nine-point advantage in the second half, Hayes made a layup and senior Geno Ware hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit to four. The Beavers responded on a 10-2 run to go up 47-35 with 14:02 left. John Jay closed the gap to seven but three minutes later the hosts led 60-42. The Bloodhounds cut the deficit to 10 but CCNY made late free throws to seal the victory. 

John Jay finished 18-for-52 (34.6%) from the field, 4-for-14 (28.6%) from behind the arc, and 19-for-29 (65.5%) from the free throw line.
