The men's soccer team shutout CCNY, 5-0, on Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at Randall's Island. The Bloodhounds improve to 7-6 overall and 6-1 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Beavers drop to 0-12 overall and 0-6 in CUNYAC.
John Jay opened the scoring in the ninth minute when freshman
Samboudiang Faye deflected a corner kick for his first collegiate goal. Senior
Alexis Bustillo was credited with the assist. Five minutes later, senior
Curtis Harbers scored on a breakaway from a long pass by senior
Oscar Barrientos to put the Bloodhounds ahead 2-0.
John Jay dominated the first half as the Bloodhounds outshot the Beavers by a margin of 13-1.
In the 61st minute, junior
Julien Roussel deflected a pass by Barrientos for his first collegiate goal. Twelve minutes later, freshman
Jonathan Robles blasted a shot from outside the box past the goalkeeper for his first collegiate goal as well. With time about to expire, Harbers scored his second of the game on a perfect pass from freshman
Mergim Mehmeti.
Senior
Alexandros Taliotis recorded his seventh win of the year after making three saves. Harbers finished with six shots, four shots on goal, and a pair of goals.
